NOTICES

‘Bringing the Beauty Salon to You’ – Thank you to Laura Record and all who helped with this event – it was great fun!  Due to a donation from Laura, the amount raised is now £110.

It was challenging weather for the Rogation Pilgrimage this year but thirteen of us enjoyed a convivial lunch in a nicely warming small room at Burton Overy village hall, our picnics washed down by wine and hot drinks.  Thanks to Craig Langton and Fran Brown who told us so much about sheep farming and bee-keeping, and to everyone who braved the weather!

Supper and India Talk – The date for this needs to be changed.  Would the 30th June be a suitable date for this?  Please let Mary know.

The next Messy All Sorts @ School will be on Thursday, 10th May, from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. in the Community Lounge at St Cuthbert’s Primary School.  All children from 0-11 years are welcome and adults too!

A Big Mission Partnership Choral Evensong with a choir of 30 plus people drawn from neighbouring churches will take place at St Cuthbert’s Church at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, 13th May.  The theme is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with music from her Coronation service.  The Ven Derek Hole will be preaching and will tell us about his role as a Queen’s Chaplain. This is the only one of these lovely big choral evensong services this year so DON’T MISS IT!  Bring any of your friends who enjoy traditional services – this is a really lovely one.  Why not invite someone who hasn’t been to church for a while?

JUST A WEEK LEFT to find items for the Jubilee Memorabilia Exhibition at St Cuthbert’s Church - Peter Scott would like all items for display to be given to Mary by Monday, 14th May, so he has a fortnight to work out how best to display everything.  Keep the memorabilia coming – but make sure it’s clearly marked with your name and contact details before you lend it to us!!

The Ascension Day Tower Service will be held at 7.30 a.m. on Thursday, 17th May, followed by breakfast (bacon butties!) beautifully cooked and kindly provided by Richard and Anne Bloor at The Springs, Carlton Lane.  Half of us climb to the top of the tower, the other half stay at the bottom and we share the same short service ending with a ‘shout in turn’ praise!  There is enough time for children to get to local schools before the beginning of their school day.  Do come and join us – all welcome!

Sparklers needs a leader – We need someone who is willing to chat to and get to know the families who come and occasionally lead the short simple service (song, story, prayers).  Please can everyone pray about this and think about who might be able to take on this role fur us.  Contact Mary on 259 2238 with any queries or thoughts.

Colours of Life takes place on Saturday, 26th May, from 9.30 a.m. until
4 p.m. at Samworth Academy in Leicester (free entrance).  Lots to do – juggling, fire-eating, a Christian conjurer, chainsaw wood sculpting, 30m long inflatable Noah’s Ark, sports coaching, a gospel choir, seminars with best selling authors, Messy Church, velcro olympics for older children, art exhibition, giant BBQ, Jemba drumming workshops, prayer labyrinth, and experience more of God in the Colours of Life interactive treasure hunt!  To see the whole programme go to the Leicester Diocese Website, click on Colours of Life, and scroll down to the programme link.
