NOTICES

Thank you everyone who helped with the wonderful Jubilee Choral Evensong at St Cuthbert’s Church last Sunday.  It was a wonderful service with great music from Arthur Whitfield on the organ, the 30+ choristers and Janet Arthur who conducted them, and the truly marvellous spread of food afterwards!!  Thanks too to the various people who helped our two casualties.
The Christian Aid Coffee Morning raised £261.  We are grateful to all who helped with that and with the door-to-door collection.
Ascension Day: Thank you Anne & Richard for a great breakfast, and thanks to Roland, Amy, Arthur and Carole Henson who helped with the school visit.

Supper and India Talk The date for this has been changed to 30th June at Burton Overy Village Hall.  Please put this date in your diaries!

Saturday, 2nd June, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. : Jubilee Exhibition – Come and see various items, newspaper reports and photos from the 1950s plus some items from the 60 years since!  Teas will be served and there will be music from that era and a short film of events from the death of George VI to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II to watch.

Diamond Jubilee Big Lunch at St Cuthbert’s Church is a Bring Your Own affair – or Bring and Share – whichever you wish!  The service on 3rd June starts at 11 a.m. (not 10.30 a.m.) so that it will be lunchtime by the time the service ends, we’ve walked down to the village green to plant the oak tree and walked back to church.  There will be parking in Libby Carr’s field opposite the junction with Church Road (disabled parking only on Church Road which will be closed between Sence Crescent and London Road for the day).  So come prepared and stay to enjoy the day!  The Scouts are erecting gazebos to provide extra shelter for people in addition to the church.

Monday, 4th June from 2 p.m. till late on the Recreation Ground in Great Glen – novelty dog show, fancy dress competition, tug-of-war, card games, activities for all ages, food on sale (teas, burger van, hog roast etc), a large marquee with dancing until late, a professional firework display and lighting of the Jubilee Beacon.  Great Glen is going to celebrate in style!!! AND so is Burton Overy – for details see their latest parish newsletter.
