If
you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up

Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to

It's time to invite your
friends to the flower arranging demonstration by Rosemary Mason on Thursday,
September 6th, at 7.30 p.m. at Great Glen Village Hall in aid of St Cuthbert's
Church funds. Please put this date in
your diary. Tickets cost £10 (to include
a glass of wine and refreshments) and are available from Amy Cook (259 2610),
Roger Flowers and David Webster.
Parish Share - All PCC and DCC members are
invited to attend a special Deanery Synod Meeting on Wednesday, 3rd October, at
7.30 p.m. at Kibworth
Church to hear about a
possible new system of calculating the parish share which may be calculated on
a local deanery level. The Diocesan
Secretary, Jonathan Kerry, will be talking about a pilot scheme that has been
taking place elsewhere in the diocese and sharing the diocese's vision for what
may be proposed to the Diocesan Synod.
Parish Magazine - Roger and Lyn Flowers have taken
on the task of producing the Parish Magazine.
We are considering producing a full edition quarterly, possibly starting
in November. In the meantime, if you
have any items for a single September and October edition, please could you
send them to Roger and Lyn asap - the email address is lynflowers49.gmail.com. The cost of the magazine will be decided once
Roger and Lyn have completed their investigations and will only be collected
once final decisions have been made, probably from November.
LEP discussions - On the 19th August, we will be
sharing both 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. services with Glen Methodist
Church . On the 16th September we have arranged an
open meeting to discuss whether or not to continue our
exploration of joining the two churches together. This is to enable an open discussion on the
matter with no preconceived decisions.
The meeting will take place after the 10.30 a.m. service and will be
followed by a bring and share lunch.
Great Glen Cub Scouts are looking for someone who
likes working with children and who can spare a couple of hours a week to help
with Great Glen Cub Scouts (boys and girls from 8 - 10) as they need an extra
adult(s) to support the existing leadership team. Training is available and obviously they
would be heavily supported for as long as necessary!! Meetings are on Mondays in term time from
6.30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Great Glen Scout HQ.
This could be very flexible and could be job share (doing alternate
Mondays or whatever suits). If anyone is
interested or requires more information, please contact Sue Lamont on 259 2115
or email suelamont@tiscali.co.uk
Red Cross Big
Wheel Appeal
- More wheelchairs are needed locally to be loaned to people for temporary
situations. There will be a bucket in
the back of our churches for the next few weeks if you would like to contribute
to this appeal by the Leicestershire & Rutland branch of the Red Cross.
The 2020 Vision Road Show takes place
on Tuesday, 30th October at St Dionysius, Market Harborough from 7 p.m. until 9
p.m. Bishop Tim will be coming along
with other members of the Senior Staff team to present the outcome of the 2020
Vision process and what the implications are for the diocese and the Gartree
deaneries. The Bishop is very keen that
as many people as possible from PCCs and DCCs and other interested people in
our churches should come to this event.
Lifts to Services - If you need a lift to any of our
services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor
(259 2440) at Burton
and they will arrange one for you.
Please pray:-
·
For Milan
and Caroline Mrtynek whose baby daughter Maia was baptized at St Cuthbert's
Church that they may bring up their family within the Christian faith.
·
For Margaret Kirby, Floss Langton, Sharon Hurst,
John Spencer, Jim Dunning, Jayne Jackson, Peter Blagburn (Kate Alexander's
father), Myra Humphrey , Judith
Buffrey’s grandson Joel, Marion McArragher, and all who are ill.
·
For Lyn Flowers and Jennie Wearne who both lost
their mothers recently.
·
For the farmers as they wrestle with the difficult
weather conditions.
·
For our students as they receive their A level, AS
level and GCSE exam results.
·
For those working for peace in the troubled areas
of our world.
