Easter Sunday United Service -
Following breakfast in the Methodist church hall, we shall start the 10.30 a.m.
Family Service in the Methodist Church (with the young families downstairs this
year!), then process up to St Cuthbert's for the Holy Communion part of the
service, followed by the children's Easter Egg treasure hunt.
This
Easter we
celebrate the 40th anniversary of Arthur Whitfield becoming organist for St
Cuthbert's Church. We would like to
thank him wholeheartedly for this long and dedicated service to the church and
for all the pleasure he has given so many people over so many years! THANK YOU ARTHUR!

The Bible Study Group
will meet on Tuesday, 2nd April, at 7.30 p.m. at The Springs, Carlton Lane , Burton
Overy to continue looking at the Book of Genesis. All welcome.
Timeout will meet again on Saturday, 13th
April, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at The Yews, Great Glen. This event is a social time for young
families with a short time of prayer for their concerns and enjoy some company,
a drink (food if you wish) and games and toys are provided for the children.
The Rogation Pilgrimage
will take place on Sunday, 28th April.
Starting this year at Glen
Methodist Church
at 10.30 a.m. we will walk to Burton Overy and on to Carlton Curlieu where we
end with tea and cakes in the church. En
route we will sing and pray in local farms and the churches. The route and timetable will be available
beforehand - come and join us for as little or as much of the pilgrimage as you
wish - walk, cycle or drive!! Bring your
own lunch to eat at Burton Overy Village Hall.
IF the weather forecast is
abominable, there will be Morning Prayer at St Andrew's, Burton Overy instead!
Church Annual General Meetings - Burton
Overy's meeting takes place on Thursday, 18th April at 7.30 p.m. in the Village
Hall - the series of meetings starts with the election of churchwardens, the
Burton & Carlton PCC AGM followed by Burton DCC AGM and ends with a brief
DCC meeting. Great Glen's AGM will take
place at St Cuthbert's Church on Wednesday, 24th April, starting with cheese
and wine for everyone at

New
Dean for Leicester Cathedral - It has just been
announced that, following a rigorous selection process, Canon David Monteith
has been appointed Dean - he came to preach at St Cuthbert's towards the end of
our last funding campaign.
The
Archdeacon
met representatives of our PCCs on the 19th March to outline the procedure for
finding a new incumbent for the benefice.
Further discussion will take place between these PCC representatives
regarding the creation of a parish profile before the next meeting with the
Archdeacon and all PCC and DCC members some time in May.

Burton Overy has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system. If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch
to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.
Children during the 10.30 a.m. Communion
Services - There are bible quizzes, colouring pictures, bible
stories, etc available in a children's area in the north aisle (whether at Glen
or Burton ). We hope that all children will come to the
altar with their families to receive a blessing (or communion if they normally
receive this).
