Mary would like to thank
everyone for their good wishes, the beautiful
cards and gifts and especially the table lamp which has pride of place in her
new lounge. She is very grateful.
Mary's Institution takes place this afternoon at 3.30 p.m. If you're planning to attend this service,
please can you arrange to share cars if at all possible as parking in Little
Harrowden is no easier there than it is in Glen!! They are laying on tea for you afterwards in
the village hall which is virtually next door.
Ascension Day Service on
Thursday, 9th May at 7.30 a.m. - This is a great
opportunity to climb the church tower to remember the Ascension of Jesus Christ
- the less adventurous stay on terra firma and sing at ground level. The service will be led by Roger Flowers and
afterwards bacon baps are served at 8 a.m. at The Springs, Carlton Lane .
The Bible Study House Group meets at The Springs, Carlton Lane , Burton
Overy on Tuesday, 7th May, at 7.30 p.m. and will be looking at Genesis, Chapter
6.
Choral Evensong at Burton Overy on Sunday,
12th May at 6.30 p.m. - David Bryars is once again
bringing his choir of former Cathedral singers to sing Evensong. Another occasion to enjoy a traditional Book
of Common Prayer service.
News in the Pews - During the interregnum, Pam Whitfield will be producing
News in the Pews on a fortnightly basis.
The next edition will be in two weeks time on Sunday, 19th May. If anyone has anything they wish to be
inserted, please forward it directly to her by email, phone or to her house,

Fund
Raising Events at St Andrew's Church - All proceeds to the Death Watch Beetle
Fund
- The Children's Variety Show was a huge success last Saturday. Great virtuoso performances by a number of children and much fun had by all. £600 was raised for the fund.
- (1) Saturday, 18th May - Order and buy your summer and autumn fashions from Boden. The sale will be in the Village Hall from 10.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. Reduced prices. 20% commission on all sales will be given to the church. Details from Sally Muir on 259 3581.
- (2) Monday, 20th May - Professional violinist Tom Bowes will entertain us in St Andrew's Church. His concert is entitled "JS Bach - A Pilgrimage". Tickets cost £8 each (to include a glass of wine and canapés) and are available from Robert and Fran Brown (259 3184). This is sure to be another memorable evening.
Thurnby Flower Club will be holding an Open Evening on Wednesday, 8th May, at
7.30 p.m. The theme will be "In
Florescence" with Nick Grounds.
There will be refreshments and a raffle.
All welcome. Tickets are £8.50

subscribe and receive the re-styled quarterly magazine? If not, for the modest cost of £5 for four
issues a year the magazine will be delivered to you. If you do already receive the magazine, why

Opening and Closing - We need people to volunteer to open and close St
Cuthbert's church one day a week during school time. So far, we have someone to do this on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - leaving just Tuesdays and Thursdays. Can you help?
