NOTICES
DON'T FORGET the hour
goes forward on Easter Sunday!!! Change
your clocks or you will miss the Easter services!
Confirmation - Jeffrey
Whelband, Jane Gemmell, Kathryn Mosely and Laura Record will be confirmed at
Leicester Cathedral at 6 a.m. (NO mistake) on Easter Sunday morning. We welcome them as full members of the
Anglican Church and of our local church community.
Holy
Week Reflective Services - Musical Reflections for Holy Week on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday from 7.30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Listen to a recording and reflect upon three
pieces of classical choral music. Each
evening we will focus on a different piece with some background to the
composition and how it links to Holy Week.
There will be a related bible reading and prayers.
Good
Friday Breakfast - Songs, prayers and activities for all ages will take place
as usual from 8 a.m. in Burton Overy Village Hall - do come and join us!
Easter
Vigil Service at Glen
Methodist Church
- This is a very special service and perhaps one you may not have been to
before. It features light (fire) being
carried into the church as a symbol of God's life and power entering our church
and our lives through Jesus' death and resurrection and prepares us for the
great Easter celebrations the following day.
Why not come and see what it is like?
Easter
Sunday United Service - Following breakfast in the Methodist church
hall, we shall start the 10.30 a.m. Family Service in the Methodist Church
(with the young families downstairs this year!), then process up to St
Cuthbert's for the Holy Communion part of the service. This will be followed by the children's
Easter Egg treasure hunt.
This
is your last chance to let David Graves or Anne Bloor know if you are
going to Mary's Institution at Little Harrowden church on Sunday, 5th May, at 3
.30 p.m.
Church
Electoral Roll Forms DUE NOW - Please return your completed forms to Roger
Hickling by the 27th March.
The
Archdeacon met
representatives of our PCC’s on 19th March to outline the procedure
for finding a new incumbent for the benefice.
Further discussion will take place between these PCC representatives
regarding the creation of a parish profile before the next meeting with the
Archdeacon and all PCC & DCC members some time in May.
Easter
Lilies
- If anyone would like to make a contribution towards the church Easter lilies
at Great Glen, would you please give your donation to Arthur Whitfield as soon
as possible.
New
Dean for Leicester Cathedral - It has just
been announced that, following a rigorous selection process, Canon David
Monteith has been appointed Dean - he came to preach at St Cuthbert's towards
the end of our last funding campaign.
Christ in the
Centre 10th Anniversary - Christ in the Centre is a full, dramatic
re-creation of the Easter story - it's one of the biggest and most effective
pieces of Christian outreach staged in the country. The 2013 production will be staged on Good
Friday, March 29th, in Humberstone Gate, Leicester. There will be two performances, the first
starting at 11 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m.
This year will feature a new script by Meg Harper based on her existing
play "The First Easter" with several new scenes written especially
for the Leicester event.

Humour
is a gift
– Written by an NHS medical secretary:
"While in ER, she was examined, x-rated and sent home."
Please pray:-
·
For Jeffrey Whelband, Jane Gemmell, Laura Record
and Kathryn Mosely who are to be confirmed on Easter Sunday - that their relationship
with God will grow ever closer.
·
For Phyllis Stanley, Laura Record, John Spencer,
Myra Humphrey, Joyce Whelband, Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel, Rachel Stevens,
and all who are ill.
·
For our teachers and pupils, that they may enjoy a

·
For all afflicted by violence in Syria , Iraq ,
Africa and elsewhere, and for all trying to
bring peace to the troubled areas of our world.
Proverb
of the Week: “The earnings of
the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin.”
