At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Remedial works to the north porch - You will now see the extent of the repair work needed to the porch and this does mean that the porch must remain closed until this work is completed and consequently the toilets are not in use.   Access to the church will only be gained via the south porch.  It is suggested that anyone approaching from Church Road use the kissing gate and footpath to the side in order to keep well away from the building site.

Car Parking - For safety reasons, please ensure that when attending Church services you do not park within 35 metres of the old A6 junction.

Hearing Loop - Due to the change of plan and the extent of the porch repair work, the loop will be installed at the end of July or early August.

News in the Pews - During the interregnum, Pam Whitfield will be producing News in the Pews usually on a fortnightly basis.  If anyone has anything they wish to be inserted, please forward it directly to her by email, phone or to her house, details are shown at the foot of the back page.  Alternatively, please contact Roger Flowers (details also shown on the back page).

Church Magazine - A way to support the church and keep informed at the same time - Do you already subscribe and receive the re-styled quarterly magazine?  If not, for the modest cost of £5 for four issues a year the magazine will be delivered to you.  If you do already receive the magazine, why not encourage your friends and neighbours to subscribe too?  For further information/inclusion on the distribution list, please contact Lesley Selway on 259 2605.

The Benefice Prayer Group will continue to meet on Wednesday mornings to pray for the people and issues in our churches, villages and the wider world.  There is a Prayer Request Box at the back of St Cuthbert’s Church – please do use it and encourage everyone to use it whether they share our faith and our church-going habits or not!

LOROS Market Harborough Support Group Summer Lunch - This is taking place in Burton Overy Village Hall on Friday, 5th July 2013.  Tickets are £12 and are available from Fran Brown (0116 259 3184).  Come and enjoy an Italian themed lunch whilst at the same time supporting a very worthy cause.

Great Glen Methodist Church Walking Treasure Hunt takes place on Tuesday, 18th June, and starts from the Methodist car park at 6.30 p.m.  The entrance fee is £2.50 and goes to Christian Aid.  If you wish to have a meal at the pub where the treasure hunt ends at, please phone Linda or John Warner on 259 3701.

St Margaret's Church, Leicester - Lunchtime Organ Recital will be given by Tim Lees on Thursday, 13th Jun e from 1 p.m. until approximately 1.30 p.m.  Admission free - tea and coffee provided.

Organ Gems on an Organ Gem takes place on Saturday, 15th June at
5 p.m. at St Mary's Church, Humberstone, LE5 1AE.  Go and hear their wonderful J W Walker organ being played by Tim Lees, FRCO.  Afterwards there will be strawberries and sparkling wine.  The entrance is free and there will be a retiring collection.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity –items such as rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel and blades.

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system.  If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.

Keeping people in touch – Please do take copies of this news-sheet to anyone you know who might be interested, especially to those who can’t get to church at the moment.

Lifts to Services – If you need a lift to any of our services, please contact Howard Bartlett (259 3747) at Glen or Richard Bloor (259 2440) at Burton Overy and they will arrange one for you.

Humour is a gift – Written by an NHS medical secretary:  "By the time he was admitted, his rapid heart had stopped and he was feeling much better."

 Please pray:-

·         For Jim Dunning, Phyllis Stanley, Laura Record, John Spencer, Myra Humphrey, Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel, Rachel Stevens, and all who are ill.
·         For the family and friends of Joyce Whelband who died recently.
·         Give thanks to Queen Elizabeth as she celebrates sixty years since her Coronation.
·         For the unrest and fighting particularly in Syria and Turkey and in all the countries where there is conflict.

Proverb of the Week:  “Gold and silver are tested by fire, and a person's heart is tested by the LORD.” (Proverbs 17 v3).
