At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.   Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

Remedial works to the north porch - Work is progressing well on the repairs to the porch.  However the porch must remain closed until this work is completed and consequently the toilets are still not in use.   Access to the church will only be gained via the south porch.  It is suggested that anyone approaching from Church Road use the kissing gate and footpath to the side to keep well away from the building site.

Car Parking - For safety reasons, please ensure that when attending Church services you do not park within 35 metres of the old A6 junction.

Hearing Loop - Due to the change of plan and the extent of the porch repair work, the loop will be installed at the end of July or early August.

The Bible Study House Group meets at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 16th July.  They will be continuing their study of the Book of Genesis and have reached Chapter 12.  Do go along if you are free that night.

Church Magazine - If anyone has anything they wish to appear in the next Church Magazine, would they let Lyn and Roger Flowers have it by no later than Friday, 12th July.

Burton Overy Scarecrow Festival - Many thanks to all who helped at the Scarecrow Festival last weekend - to those who made the wonderful scarecrows, those who helped with refreshments and those who manned the car parks.  It was a wonderful weekend and helped by the lovely weather.  A further more detailed report will appear in due course.

Music on the Launde in the grounds of Launde Abbey on Saturday, 20th July.  Gates open 3.30 p.m.  Firework finale 10.30 p.m.  Come and enjoy a fabulous afternoon and evening of Big Band and Soulful Jazz music.  Bring a picnic or buy food from high quality local providers on the day.  Tickets from £9 for children, £17 for adults.  Under 5s free.  Book tickets by telephone on 0116 259 8915 or email tickets@funkyabbey.co.uk or in person at Launde Abbey.

Cream Teas will be served at St Peter's Church, Tilton on the Hill on Sundays, the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th July, from 3 to 5 p.m.  There is a disabled access and all are welcome.  Proceeds to the Bell Tower Restoration Fund.

WHY NOT put an extra can or packet in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity –items such as rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, baked beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel and blades.

Humour is a gift – Written by an NHS medical secretary:  "Patient's medical history has been  remarkably insignificant with only a 40 pound weight gain in the past three days ."

Please pray:-
·         For Hayley & Simon Sanderson and Charlotte Gemmell &Joshua Richards as they begin married life.
·         For Jim Dunning, Peter Wood, John Spencer, Myra Humphrey, Maureen Lochhead, Judith Buffrey’s grandson Joel, Rachel Stevens, and all who are ill.
·         For Egypt as they face further upheaval following the ousting of their President.
·         For Syria and all countries where there is conflict.
·         For everyone going on holiday that they may have a restful and relaxing time and return suitably refreshed to continue their everyday life.

Proverb of the Week:  “Those who love knowledge want to be told when they are wrong.  It is stupid to hate being corrected.” (Proverbs 12 v1).
