At Communion Services
If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine. Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

NOTICES

St Cuthbert’s Church Fete – We shall be holding a fete in and around the church on Saturday, 4th June. We are asking for contributions for tombola, bottle stall, unwanted gifts, jigsaws and children’s toys (complete and in good condition please). There will be a box in church from 1st May. Offers of help to man a stall and to help with setting up and dismantling on the day would be greatly appreciated. Also books in good condition are wanted for a stall at the Church Fete on 4th June. Collection can be arranged. Please contact Amy Cook 259 2610.

Sunday Breakfast – from June onwards on the 2nd Sunday of each month breakfast will be served in St. Cuthbert’s Church after the 8.30 am. service – a simple meal (cereals, toast, etc) for people to enjoy some company and it would be lovely if some 10.30 service people would come to join us.

The Bible Study House Group meets at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy on Tuesday, 31st May, at 7.30 p.m. We shall be discussing the Gospel according to St Matthew, Chapter 12.

A series of meetings ‘resourcing for mission’ takes place at St Martins House, week commencing 2nd June and include a tour of the new facilities, refreshments and a short time of worship at the Cathedral. Thursday, 2nd June – a missional music special for Ascension Day for church choirs and singers with Cathedral Director of Music, Chris Johns from 3.15 p.m. until 6 p.m. (including refreshments and Evensong at 5.30 p.m.)

Friday, 3rd June – a children’s special time of ‘Godly Play’ for over 5s and a crèche for under 5s, (plus a tour of the building for adults) from 10.30 a.m. until 12.45 p.m. (including a lunch box at midday). When booking, please include children’s names and ages plus any dietary requirements.

Sunday, 5th June – a group Bible study on mission with Bishop Christopher from 2 p.m. until 4.30 p.m. (including refreshments and Evensong at 4 p.m.)

Monday, 6th June – New to the PCC? A special evening with the Archdeacon of Loughborough, David Newman, and Director of Finance, John Orridge, to both the missional and legal responsibilities and opportunities of being a member of a Church Council (PCC or DCC) – 7.15 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. (including refreshments and Service of Compline at 9.15 p.m.)

Tuesday, 7th June – ‘The Hospitable Church’. We are delighted to welcome a former director of Customer Services for John Lewis and Director of Hospitality for Birmingham Cathedral, Mark Hope Irwin, to help us consider what it means to be a hospitable church. 7.15 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. Including refreshments and Service of Compline at 9.15 p.m.)

Wednesday, 8th June – Interested in Journey into Faith course or the ‘Discovery’ active learner courses? This evening is a unique opportunity to take part in a one-off sample taster session with the Head of the School for Ministry, Stuart Burns. From 7.15 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. (including refreshments and Service of Compline at 9.15 p.m.)

Quiet Gardens in Leicestershire – Have you ever been to one of these? They are limited to about eight people each time so it’s a real chance for some quiet and spiritual input. For more information, pick up a programme at the back of church.

More than Gold is a Christian organization set up to organized well-planned outreach events, service and hospitality during the 2012 Olympic Games. Leicestershire will be hosting many elite athletes in the build-up to the Games and the Torch Relay is passing through the county in the months before the games. They are looking for a representative from each church to be a “Gold Champion” – for more information go to www.morethangold.org.uk

Hearing Loop – St Andrew’s Church at Burton Overy now has a hearing loop as part of the loudspeaker system. If you wear a hearing aid, adjust the switch to the T position and you will hear the service clearly.
