 At Communion Services

If you are a communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive the bread and wine.  Otherwise you are welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing.  Keeping your hands down by your side will signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing.   If you have difficulty coming up to the Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a sidesman.

 NOTICES

A MESSAGE FROM KIM IN TANZANIA  I want to thank everyone for their prayers while I have been away. It has been an amazing, eye opening and exhausting journey but I have seen so much of what the Lord is doing in this diocese. It's been such a privilege to be among such incredible people preaching and living the word of God sometimes in incredibly difficult places. I have gone to Dareda to the church we have been supporting and have many stories to tell and pictures of the progress. The foundations are laid and the walls are going up this week. While we were there the congregation raised the money to supply the mortar to start putting the walls up as our money had supplied the bricks. So it was good to see the partnership of putting the two elements together. I have much more to say but will leave the stories until I return. Thank you for your help in making the word come alive in the lives here in Tanzania. My prayers and theirs have been with you as well. Kim

TODDLER CAFE will be open twice in the summer on the 3rd and 24th August from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for play and coffee. If you know anyone with little ones please let them know.

LADIES NIGHT OUT  the next date is  Wednesdays 27th July at the Grange Farm, Oadby. There will be no meeting in August.  The venue for 21st September will be announced nearer the time. This is a friendly group of ladies, who enjoy having a meal together, so if you are interested, or have any enquiry please contact Helen Dartnall (0116 2404917)  as Carole Henson will be on holiday.

BIBLE STUDY HOUSE GROUP will meet at 7.30pm on Tuesday 23rd August at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy - we are reading St John's Gospel and have reached chapter 14.  Please do come along if you would like to join in.

RIDE AND STRIDE DAY - Saturday, 10th September  How about riding or striding about some of the churches in Leicestershire?  On this day over 400 church doors will be open in the city and county.  This annual sponsored event is organised by the Historic Churches Trust to raise money for the Trust and for churches to raise money for themselves!   Sponsorship forms are at the back of our churches.  How about a Parish Bike Ride or Walk?  If you are interested please speak to Anne Bloor - rabloor@gmail.com or 259-2440.

VISIT TO THE HOLY LAND Have you ever wanted to visit the Holy Land? Well, we are looking at the possibility of taking a Lenten pilgrimage, including a fully guided tour with Canon Philip Norwood, for 10 days from March 14th-23rd 2017.  The cost will be £1745 which will include flights, hotels, tours, entries to attractions and full board (this is based on 2 people sharing a room - there is a supplement for a single room). The only extra cost would be travel insurance. There are leaflets available for anyone who is interested.  If you are interested please come and have a chat with either Kim or Bert Patrick.

WHY NOT PUT AN EXTRA CAN OR PACKET in your shopping basket to bring to church services.  St Cuthbert’s supports Leicester Cathedral’s Welcome Group for destitute asylum seekers and St Andrew’s supports a homeless charity.  Suggestions: rice, pasta (mainly spaghetti), oil, sugar, tea, coffee, tinned goods (tomatoes, fruit, meat, fish, beans such as  red kidney beans or bortoli beans and sweet corn), shampoo, shower-gel, toothpaste, deodorants, shaving cream/gel.
Please pray for:-

·         Margaret Bannister, Christine Higgins, Will Johnston, Elizabeth Tacey, Martin Tacey, and all who are ill.
·         John Kelly & Vanessa Parr and Daniel Reece & Georgina Gilbert who are to be married in July
·         the five police officers killed after a sniper attack at a protest rally in Dallas, USA
·         the people killed and injured when a gunman drove a truck into crowds of Bastille Day revellers in Nice, France
·         our new Prime Minister and her cabinet as they strive to take our country forward
·         the people in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Gaza, and all other places of conflict in the world, that peace may return
