At Communion Services
If you are a
communicant member of a Christian Church, you are welcome to come up to receive
the bread and wine. Otherwise you are
welcome to either remain in your seat or come up to receive a blessing. Keeping your hands down by your side will
signify to the Vicar that you wish to receive a blessing. If you have difficulty coming up to the
Communion Rail and would like the Vicar to come to you, then please inform a
sidesman.

meal together and have fellowship. New

BIBLE STUDY HOUSE GROUP will meet on Tuesday 19th September
at The Springs, Carlton Lane, Burton Overy at 7.30pm - do come along if you are
interested.
THE
BISHOP ANNOUNCES that the Revd Steve Bailey,
Team Vicar, St Paul’s Oadby has been appointed also as Priest-in-Charge (Team Rector
Designate) in the Oadby Team Benefice.
ANNUAL RIDE AND
STRIDE DAY - Next Saturday (September 9th) is the Annual Ride and
Stride Day when money is raised to
help churches with their building repairs and projects. Dave Henson will be riding with a group of active cyclists -
no wonder he looks so fit! Please
sponsor Dave. Half of any money
raised comes directly to our churches and half goes to the Historic Churches
Trust who then give grants to help churches. We have benefitted from
these grants in the past and will probably need to again. Alternatively
you can sponsor those of us who will be manning the churches throughout the day
to welcome visitors. Every little helps!
HARVEST FUN DAY - 1st October, at 10:30 am!
We will be having our annual Harvest Festival Service at St
Cuthbert’s Church with a twist! We would like all three churches to come
together to celebrate as we launch our new service starting the following week.
The idea is to bring a picnic for
yourself and whoever you are with and we will provide drinks and puddings. There will be a skittle alley, face painting,
small games for children, a clue search throughout the church and churchyard
and also a shoebox competition - the idea being to decorate a shoebox and fill
it with non-perishable foods for the Welcome Project. There will be a prize for the best family box
and the best individual box. There will
be no charge and all are welcome to join us for the day.
CAKES OR PUDDINGS NEEDED! As you have read we are having
a fun day on the 1st October and as part of that we would like
to offer the people who come cakes or puddings and a drink. If you are able to help
with a cake or a pudding we would be most grateful. We are looking for easy to
serve puddings for about 6-8 people (or more).
If you feel you can help provide a sweet could you please put your name
on the sign-up sheet at the back of the church. There is a sheet in St
Andrew's and St Cuthbert's. We also need a few extra hands to help us
serve teas, coffees and soft drinks that day in half an hour intervals so if
you would like to help there is space for volunteers on the same sheet. Thank
you in advance for your help.
COFFEE TIME - After the 1st October we
shall no longer be serving coffee after the 10.45 am service. However coffee
will be available after the earlier service and we would hope that the two
congregations would meet and enjoy fellowship together at that time. We do need
volunteers to offer to serve coffee between 10-10 am and 10-40. Note our three
most regular volunteers will be busy doing other things at this time so we need
your help and support in this venture to welcome young families and see growth
in our church. Please do sign up and make a commitment
